HUD Foundation Certification Texas
Federal compliance verification for manufactured home financing.
What is HUD Certification?
We partner with an engineering firm to provide lender-required HUD Foundation Certifications, primarily for manufactured homes. The engineer and lender underwriter determine what will be inspected for the HUD cert.
David’s role is to take the work order issued by the engineer and collect the specific data requested — photos and measurements, record anchorage details, pier types, spacing of piers, and spacing of anchors. The engineer then works with the lender underwriter to complete the certification documentation.
Without this certification, many financing options — particularly FHA and VA loans — simply aren’t available.
What David Collects On-Site
David collects the specific data outlined in the engineer’s work order for each HUD certification:
- Photos and Measurements: Detailed photographic documentation of the foundation system
- Anchorage Details: Recording the type and condition of tie-down and anchoring systems
- Pier Types: Documenting pier construction, materials, and condition
- Spacing: Measuring and recording spacing of piers and anchors
The engineer and lender underwriter use this field data to complete the official HUD certification documentation.
Common Questions About HUD Certification
Most FHA and VA lenders require HUD foundation certification for manufactured homes built after 1976. Some conventional lenders also require it for financing approval.
The on-site data collection typically takes 30–45 minutes. The engineer then works with the lender underwriter to complete the certification documentation, so final paperwork timing depends on their process.
That determination comes from the engineer, not from us. David collects the field data, and the engineer evaluates whether the foundation meets requirements and what corrections may be needed.
Yes, we can perform HUD certification once the permanent foundation is substantially complete, even if final grading or skirting isn’t finished.
You don’t need to be present, but you’re welcome to attend if you have questions about your foundation or the certification process.
