What is HUD Certification?

We partner with an engineering firm to provide lender-required HUD Foundation Certifications, primarily for manufactured homes. The engineer and lender underwriter determine what will be inspected for the HUD cert.

David’s role is to take the work order issued by the engineer and collect the specific data requested — photos and measurements, record anchorage details, pier types, spacing of piers, and spacing of anchors. The engineer then works with the lender underwriter to complete the certification documentation.

Without this certification, many financing options — particularly FHA and VA loans — simply aren’t available.

What David Collects On-Site

David collects the specific data outlined in the engineer’s work order for each HUD certification:

  • Photos and Measurements: Detailed photographic documentation of the foundation system
  • Anchorage Details: Recording the type and condition of tie-down and anchoring systems
  • Pier Types: Documenting pier construction, materials, and condition
  • Spacing: Measuring and recording spacing of piers and anchors

The engineer and lender underwriter use this field data to complete the official HUD certification documentation.
